First of all, you shall be informed that the first salted chicken business in Malaysia (Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken) was founded in IPOH since 1987 by Mr Lim Meng Teck.
Subsequently, in the year 1999, the late Madam Lim Chee Hsiang set up Kheng Lim salted chicken in Gunung Rapat, Ipoh.
Few years later in 2005, Mr Lim Meng Yoke established MYLIM Salted Chicken in Semenyih.
Today, other than me (Lim Meng Yoke), my son (Lim Dao Xiang) is playing an important role for the future business expansion.
You must be wondering whether there is any meaning of this “MYLIM”? It is actually the initial of my name, (LIM) (M)eng (Y)oke. MY Lim has started been used since I first stepped into my career life. Friends and colleagues around me used to call me by this.
I was a Senior manager in HITACHI before setting up MYLIM salted chicken business. I chose to leave Hitachi at times when the company was not doing well. I was compensated with a lump sum under Voluntary Seperation Scheme (VSS) and with this I decided to set up my own business.
After I left Hitachi, I was totally lost of direction. One day while I was strolling around in a night market, I saw a hawker selling salted chicken. I gave it a try and I was very disappointed that the taste was too far away from my home-made one (Ipoh Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken). At that moment, some thoughts just pop-up in my mind. I realised that there is a great business opportunity for me around Klang Valley as we hardly can find a delicious and tasty salted chicken here. The encouragement and supports I received from my family members had rendered me to set up the first salted chicken business in Semenyih, i.e. MYLIM Salted Chicken.
